This is the second of a unique series of workshops which present the
phenomenal scope of the bitcoin system and its implications.
Bitcoin enables secure payments to anyone, anywhere in the world, instantly and at almost no cost and therefore allows ordinary people to engage and participate in the global ecomomy on their own terms without intermediaries.
The potential of such a system is immense in that ultimately it can engender a fair cooperative world in which all have what they need - indeed it can systemically eliminate the mechanisms of greed.
The bitcoin system is far more than just the world's first global cryptographically-secured
currency - it is a decentralized monetary system best described as "The
Internet of Money" and is the largest socio-economic experiment in the
history of the world.
At the system's heart lies the blockchain, a globally distributed database accessible equally to all.
Nothing like this has existed in the history of mankind so it is no surprise that this largest distributed supercomputer ever devised carries a currency whose value has jumped 1000 percent in the last year.
